Mahjong is a 19th-century Chinese tile-based game, often called "the game of the sparrows," involving skill, strategy, and calculation. Played by four people, it features 136–152 tiles—representing money, suits, and seasons—which are shuffled, stacked, and drawn to form sets. It was popularized globally in the 1920s.
